These Terms of Service apply to your use of CrisisMap.
By accessing or using CrisisMap, you agree to these Terms.
1. Informational purpose only
CrisisMap is provided for general informational and situational-awareness purposes.
CrisisMap is not an emergency warning service, emergency communications system, evacuation service, weather authority, government service, or professional disaster-response system.
Do not rely on CrisisMap as the sole basis for decisions affecting personal safety, evacuation, emergency response, travel, logistics, medical care, property protection, or other consequential actions.
For official warnings and instructions, consult the appropriate local or national authorities and other authoritative sources.
2. Third-party disaster information
CrisisMap currently displays information derived from the Global Disaster Awareness and Coordination System (GDACS).
GDACS states that some of its notifications are produced automatically, may be subject to uncertainty or errors, and may require further validation. GDACS also states that its services are not intended to replace or override official information or alert messages from local or national disaster-management authorities.
Information displayed by CrisisMap may therefore be incomplete, delayed, unavailable, uncertain, or later revised.
CrisisMap does not independently verify every event, estimate, alert level, location, geographic feature, or other item supplied by third-party sources.
Data source: Global Disaster Awareness and Coordination System (GDACS).
3. Maps and geographic information
Maps, boundaries, labels, locations, shapes, and other geographic representations are provided for visualization and orientation.
They should not be treated as authoritative statements about:
- political or administrative boundaries;
- jurisdiction;
- property boundaries;
- exact impact areas;
- evacuation zones;
- road accessibility; or
- the precise geographic extent of an event.
Map and location data may come from third-party providers and may contain errors or omissions.
4. Availability and timeliness
CrisisMap is provided on an “as available” basis.
The site, its infrastructure, or its underlying data sources may be delayed, unavailable, interrupted, incomplete, or changed without notice.
An event not appearing on CrisisMap does not mean that no hazard, emergency, or disruption exists.
CrisisMap may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time.
5. Permitted use
You may access, browse, and link to publicly available CrisisMap pages and event URLs for lawful purposes.
You may not:
- intentionally interfere with the operation or security of CrisisMap;
- attempt to bypass technical restrictions or access controls;
- use CrisisMap to distribute malicious code or unlawful material;
- impersonate CrisisMap or misrepresent an affiliation with CrisisMap; or
- place unreasonable automated load on CrisisMap infrastructure.
Separate licenses or terms may apply to third-party data, maps, software, trademarks, and other materials displayed through the service.
6. Intellectual property
Except for third-party materials, CrisisMap's original branding, design elements, software, and original site content may be protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
Third-party data, maps, trademarks, names, logos, and other materials remain the property of their respective rights holders and may be subject to separate licenses or terms.
Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of third-party content to CrisisMap or Project 108.
7. Third-party services and links
CrisisMap uses or may link to services operated by third parties, including GDACS and Mapbox.
Those services are governed by their own terms, privacy policies, availability, and operating practices.
CrisisMap is not responsible for the content, accuracy, availability, or operation of third-party services.
8. No warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CrisisMap is provided without warranties of accuracy, completeness, availability, timeliness, fitness for a particular purpose, or suitability for any particular decision or use.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the operators of CrisisMap will not be liable for loss, damage, injury, expense, delay, or other consequences arising from:
- reliance on information displayed by CrisisMap;
- inability to access or use CrisisMap;
- errors, omissions, delays, or inaccuracies in displayed information;
- third-party data or services; or
- actions taken or not taken based on information shown on the site.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations of liability, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
10. Changes to these Terms
These Terms may be updated from time to time as CrisisMap evolves.
When material changes are made, the effective date at the top of this page will be updated.
Continued use of CrisisMap after revised Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law.
