CrisisMap is designed to collect as little information about visitors as practical.
This Privacy Policy explains what information may be processed when you use CrisisMap and which third-party services are involved.
1. Information you provide
CrisisMap currently does not require an account and does not ask you to provide personal information in order to use the map.
If you contact us directly, we receive the information you choose to include in that communication, such as your email address and message.
2. Website analytics
CrisisMap uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand basic website usage and performance.
Cloudflare describes Web Analytics as a privacy-first analytics service and states that it does not collect or use visitors' personal data for Web Analytics. Cloudflare also states that Web Analytics does not use cookies or localStorage to collect usage metrics and does not fingerprint individual visitors for those metrics.
CrisisMap does not currently use advertising trackers or behavioral advertising.
3. Technical and operational data
Like most websites, the services used to deliver, secure, and operate CrisisMap may process ordinary technical request information.
Depending on the service and configuration, this may include information such as:
- IP address;
- browser and device information;
- operating system;
- requested URL;
- referring page;
- request timestamp; and
- diagnostic, security, or performance information.
This information may be processed by infrastructure and service providers as necessary to operate, secure, monitor, and troubleshoot the site.
4. Map services
CrisisMap uses Mapbox to provide interactive mapping.
When your browser requests Mapbox maps, styles, tiles, fonts, or related resources, Mapbox may receive technical information associated with those requests. Mapbox's current product privacy documentation describes information it may receive from users of applications that incorporate Mapbox services, including IP addresses, session or billing identifiers, user-agent information, timestamps, and other network or product-use data.
Mapbox processes information under its own privacy policies and contractual terms.
5. Disaster data and external links
CrisisMap currently displays disaster information sourced from the Global Disaster Awareness and Coordination System (GDACS).
CrisisMap may link to GDACS, official authorities, source agencies, or other third-party websites. If you follow an external link, the privacy practices of that website or service apply.
6. Cookies and browser storage
CrisisMap does not currently use cookies for advertising or analytics.
Cloudflare states that its Web Analytics product does not require cookies or localStorage to collect usage metrics.
Other infrastructure services may use strictly necessary technologies for security, traffic management, or service delivery. If CrisisMap later introduces non-essential cookies, advertising technologies, account features, or other material changes to browser storage or personal-data processing, this policy will be updated.
7. Sale of personal information
CrisisMap does not sell personal information.
8. Data retention
CrisisMap does not currently maintain user profiles.
Operational, security, and diagnostic information may be retained by CrisisMap or its service providers for periods appropriate to operating, securing, and troubleshooting the service.
Information you send directly to us may be retained as reasonably necessary to respond to your message and maintain appropriate records.
9. Changes to this policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated as CrisisMap changes.
When material changes are made, the effective date at the top of this page will be updated.
